Rock Climbing in the Peak District
Even complete newcomers will soon be scaling protected Peak District crags on this two-day session. Learners will master securing the rope, belaying and several methods of ascent, as well as abseiling down. This historic hillside village, a ancient town in Andalucía, around 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the inspiring setting for this creative getaway. Artists of every skill level – even novices – will be taught how to conceive and execute abstract artworks. Part of the schedule will be spent in the open air, working on structured activities out in nature. These initial sketches and paintings will then be developed in the workspace, with participants creating several interpretive scenes in acrylic paint to be shown in the village. Participants has sole use of the hotel, which is set around an central patio and has a rooftop with views over the hills. The price covers five days of art instruction; all meals; and an excursion to the nearby fortress and other local sights.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Cooking in the Algarve
This sun-drenched foodie getaway, set on a riverside villa in the inland Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Guests will learn to produce selection of small dishes, take part in a hands-on falafel session, refine brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses like a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the local market and a local vineyard to sample local vintages, along with leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the pool. Hip Hop in Buckinghamshire

Maritime Singing Break in St Ives
This coastal town is the perfect spot for a maritime music retreat. Guests will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at composing original ones. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breathing exercises, performance tips and a final evening concert. The holiday is based at a rural hotel overlooking St Ives Bay. All meals are included, such as a Cornish cream tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not included. Author and lecturer an experienced instructor runs the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He explores everything from plot, character development, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to agents.
